about us

FACTUAL  ♦  TELEVISION  ♦  PRODUCTION  ♦  DISTRIBUTION

re:think Entertainment was launched in 2003 by Susan Boshcoff and Paula Hutchinson as a boutique distribution company to develop and represent quality non-fiction programming for the international television and multi-media broadcast market. Our catalogue has since grown from a handful of titles to our current inventory of 200+ hours, and our focus has expanded to include original production.

We look for mixed programming in the factual genre, both series and docs in the following categories:

Lifestyle, Current Affairs, Science & Technology, Travel & Adventure, Kids, Arts & Entertainment.

We acquire a select number of new titles each year for distribution, which allows us to maintain a small catalogue and give individual attention to the programs that we represent.

We believe that it's better to stand out in a crowd than be lost in one, and with a focus on quality over quantity, we manage steady growth in our company while continuing to deliver a fresh supply of content to the international market.

re:think regularly attends major television markets such as MIPTV and MIPCOM in Cannes, HotDocs/TDF in Toronto, The Realscreen Summit in Washington, and the Banff International Television Festival in Alberta, as well as conducting numerous sales trips at home and abroad yearly.

re:think licenses programs to major television networks worldwide such as National Geographic International, PBS, The Biography Channel, Discovery Communications, The Sundance Channel, Fox International, Sky Broadcasting UK, Sky New Zealand, CBC, Canwest Global, ITV, Viasat, UKTV, TV2 Denmark, YLE, AB SAT and ARTE France.

In addition to television broadcast, re:think licenses numerous programs to multi-platform broadcasters, including In-flight (Inflight UK; Al Italia; TAM), Home Video/DVD (National Geographic Home Video; Zipidee; Capricorn Media; TravelVideo) and Online (Babelgum; Freespeech TV; Current TV, Kazam).

re:think has a dedicated team of experienced professionals who take great pride in the programs that they represent. They have vast experience in production, distribution and business affairs, and as a result the company has quickly established a reputation with broadcast clients and producing partners worldwide as one of the best in the industry.

re:think is known for an eclectic slate, providing excellent service, and producing fresh ideas from concept to completion.

Bigger isn't always better after all.

Paula Hutchinson
Director of Sales & Acquisitions

Paula Hutchinson has a 10 year varied background in corporate communications, television production and distribution. She's worked as a copywriter and editor, and as a production coordinator on numerous projects with a focus on program marketing and independent international distribution. She spent two years working in production with Disney US on their made-for-tv movies, and then in 2001, moved into full time distribution with a Canadian company where she managed the international sales department. She launched rethink Entertainment in 2003.

As Director of Sales & Acquisitions at rethink, Paula scours the planet for diverse programming that will fit well with the rethink catalogue and working philosophy. She looks for original concepts and international production companies to collaborate with and also works closely with re:think's producers to build on their existing programming, satisfying both their own interests and the changing demands of the multi-platform market.

Susan Boshcoff
Director of Production & Development

Prior to attending Ryerson University for Film in Toronto, Susan got her start volunteering at the Canadian Film Centre as a production assistant. She went on to develop her skills as a production manager, writer and producer on numerous commercial and television productions, and before launching re:think, Susan was the showrunner and producer of 39 hour-long episodes of the global exploration series ‘Exploring Horizons’, which she also wrote and directed. The series traveled to little known, and often, remote parts of the globe, which was a profound and humanizing experience. Over the course of filming, Susan developed a true passion for sharing the stories of those people whose voices are rarely heard.

As the Director of Production and Development at rethink, Susan collaborates with producing partners at all stages of development and production, and works with content creators around the world to create engaging and entertaining programs that appeal to a global audience.
