We
work with content creators from all over the world to develop, produce
and sell programming to the international multi-platform broadcast market.
We are experienced producers, knowledgeable distributors and saavy negotiators.
We
understand the ever-changing global market, the value of rights in
multi-platform distribution, and how to maximize those rights to the
benefit of our clients.
If
you're interested in selling outside of your domestic market, the
investment you make in your program doesn't end with post production.
When creating your budget, include the costs of versioning
international masters and account for a marketing strategy for
international sales, including distribution costs and promotional
materials for the finished program: dvds, sell sheets, epk.
There
are a number of factors to consider when producing for the
international market and working with an international distributor. The
following are a few basic essentials:
1. M&E.
Make
sure your program has a separate music & effects track so that
foreign language broadcasters can version the program in their own
language.
2. Clearances.
International
rights should be cleared for all elements of your program in all media.
Music, talent, interviews, locations, stock footage, broadcast, home
video, dvd, educational.
3. TV Versions.
Feature
length docs don't sell well because very few broadcasters have 90
minute slots in their schedules. Create a 60 minute "tv version" of
your program and you open up a world of possibilities.
4. Subtitling.
Too much is a turn off for most broadcasters, narration is a good alternative.
5. Promotional Images.
You should have a minimum of 5 print quality (300 dpi) images for promotional use.
